Our Guest Runners for Echigo Country Trail 2025!

Guest Runner: Chizuru Ohbuchi

Hailing from our neighboring city of Ojiya, Chizuru Ohbuchi had her first-ever trail running experience right here at Echigo Country Trail! With such a special connection to the race, she has continued to be a guest runner for three years in a row, from 2023 to 2025.

Specializing in 100-mile races, Chizuru is a strong and accomplished trail runner. She’s a bit shy but incredibly approachable, always greeting people with a warm smile. One of the most memorable moments from past races was seeing her happily posing for photos with participants. And if you look at any race photo of her—she’s always smiling!

Guest Runner: Yuto Shirakawa

Returning as a guest runner again this year, Yuto Shirakawa made a huge impact at last year’s race. He didn’t just run—he cheered on participants like a member of the event staff!

If there’s one word to describe Yuto, it’s “energetic.” During the race, he would stop mid-run to pose for cameras, enjoy post-race curry with fellow participants, and even welcome runners at the finish line alongside “Chii-chan” (Chizuru). His enthusiasm truly brought the event to life!

Based in Takasaki, Gunma, Yuto runs a high-altitude training gym and shares valuable trail running insights on his YouTube channel, “Shirakawa Yuto.” He even uploaded footage from last year’s Echigo Country Trail, so if you’re thinking about joining, be sure to check it out!
