A Message from the Race Director
Hello everyone. I’m Takeshi Ando, Race Director of Echigo Country Trail.Echigo Country Trail will celebrate its 10th edition in 2027.
The race began in 2016, when local residents came together with the Oguni Branch Office of Nagaoka City under the motto, “Let’s energize Oguni through trail running!”
Along the way, we were forced to cancel the race for two consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there was even a time when we wondered whether the race would be able to continue. Even so, thanks to the support of so many people, we have managed to keep moving forward and reach this milestone.
We feel that reaching our 10th edition would not have been possible without everyone who has been involved in the race over the years — our runners, local residents, volunteers, people from the local government, and so many others. We are truly grateful to all of you. Thank you so much for supporting us all these years.
We see this 10th edition as an important milestone. As we look back to where we started, we hope to take the next step toward the next 10 years together with everyone who has supported Echigo Country Trail along the way.
“10 Years of Gratitude, Into the Next 10!”
In keeping with this theme for Echigo Country Trail 2027, we want to carry our gratitude for everyone who has been part of Echigo Country Trail and continue moving forward, with the hope of passing this race on to the next generation.
We still have plenty to learn and improve, but we hope you will continue to enjoy and support Echigo Country Trail in the years to come.
We look forward to seeing you at Echigo Country Trail 2027!
